A list of sex acts that are to be banned from UK porn

A rather wide selection of sexual acts is about to be banned from UK pornography for being offensive, obscene or potentially “life endangering.”

The Indy100 reports that the UK’s Digital Economy Bill passed a third reading this week and is now well on its way to becoming law. Once enacted it will see many a sex act being banned from UK pornography – basically it bans anything from being shown online anything that wouldn’t be allowed on a commercially available DVD. (Websites won’t be banned from hosting the material, but will be banned from showing them to anyone in the UK):

The bill will also force consumers to request access to porn by signing up to an age verification programme.

Below is a list of the the sex acts proposed for banning because they have been deemed “content that is not acceptable” by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) for reasons of obscenity, or for being potentially ‘life endangering’.

Spanking
Caning
Aggressive whipping
Penetration by any object “associated with violence”
Physical or verbal abuse (regardless if consensual)
Urolagnia (known as “water sports”)
Role-playing as non-adults
Physical restraint
Humiliation
Female ejaculation
Strangulation
Face sitting
Fisting
Criminal and illegal acts banned by other legislation are also banned from pornography, as a matter of course.

“The application of these rules also lead to a lot of informal regulations such as ‘the four finger rule’, whereby porn producers cannot create any porn that includes more than four fingers entering an orifice.”

I’m unclear on what the age verification entails but it must be pretty robust because the idea has apparently been criticized by those who would argue that this would inevitably lead to a register of viewing habits of users.

Creepy, terrifying, or good news? You decide.
